Isaiah Thomas’ career is one of the best examples of how cruel the NBA can be to a player.
Thomas was once a core member of the Boston Celtics, but his career derailed after getting traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017.
While IT averaged 28.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in the 2016-17 NBA season, he battled through a hip injury during his stint with the Cavs.
As a result, his numbers dropped to 15.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game the following season.
Thomas recently shared his rollercoaster experience in the NBA, via Hoop Central on Twitter.
“I’ve been in all situations. From a MF that don’t play, franchise player, all that. Don’t take this s*** for granted,” he said.

It’s true that Thomas was once the franchise player for the Celtics, but that was the prime of his career.
Everything has gone downhill for Thomas since then.
He has bounced around the league, playing for the Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets, Wizards, Pelicans, Mavericks, and Hornets since the 2016-17 season.
Thomas was last active in the NBA during the 2021-22 season as a member of the Hornets.
IT averaged 8.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists over 17 games from the bench for the Hornets.
He failed to impress the organization and found himself out of the league at 32 years old.
Keeping Thomas’ journey in mind, it’s a great lesson for aspiring NBA players that it doesn’t take long for a player to go from a superstar to a role player and ultimately be thrown out of the league.
As of now, Thomas is seeking a return to the NBA to prove his worth to organizations once again.
