The Chicago Bulls have been setback the past couple of years as they’ve had to endure the loss of Lonzo Ball.

Ball has struggled with knee injuries during his Bulls’ tenure, though he recently underwent a cartilage transplant that left him hopeful that he will play again in the future.

However, the point guard is expected to miss the entirety of the 2023-24 season which leaves Chicago potentially staring down another lost season.

The Eastern Conference seems to be passing the Bulls by and the franchise has to make a decision on what direction they want to go in.

Ball’s injury concerns are a large piece to the puzzle, though it hasn’t given people like Stephen A. Smith any reason to offer his sympathies.

After Smith recently doubled down on his comments about Ball’s health, the former No. 2 overall pick fired back via NBA Central.

“The outside noise doesn’t bother me,” Ball said. The Stephen A. thing, he has a wide platform. And to me, I just don’t appreciate when people put out fake news like that, especially someone of his stature that can touch a lot of people.”

Ball has had to endure a lot of comments like Smith’s over the years and it’s good to hear him sticking up for himself as he works his way back to the court.

There’s no doubt that Ball is a talented player and changes the makeup of the Bulls’ roster when he’s out there, so giving him the necessary time and space to get healthy is of the utmost importance for the organization.
