I’ve lived in TWO castles, including one that had a swimming pool as a moat – here’s how you can stay in them too

The Standard Reaction to Living in Two Castles: A Unique Experience

When I tell people that I have lived in two castles in my life, the most common reaction I receive is one of utter disbelief. And understandably so, as it is not a standard occurrence for most people. But for me, it has been a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

Growing up, I never imagined that I would one day call a castle my home. It seemed like something out of a fairytale, reserved only for royalty and the wealthy elite. But fate had a different plan for me, and I found myself living in not just one, but two castles.

The first castle I lived in was in the countryside of Scotland. It was a magnificent structure, with towering turrets, grand halls, and lush gardens. As a child, I was in awe of its beauty and grandeur. Every day felt like a magical adventure, exploring the vast grounds and discovering hidden nooks and crannies.

Living in a castle was not without its challenges, though. The maintenance and upkeep of such a historic building required constant attention and care. But it was a small price to pay for the privilege of living in such a remarkable place.

The second castle I lived in was in France, and it was a completely different experience from the first. This castle was nestled in the heart of a bustling city, surrounded by modern buildings and busy streets. It was a stark contrast to the peaceful countryside of Scotland, but equally as enchanting.

Living in a castle in the middle of a city was a unique experience in itself. I was able to witness the fusion of old and new, as the castle stood as a testament to the past while the city continued to evolve and grow. It was a constant reminder of the rich history and culture that surrounded me.

One of the most remarkable things about living in a castle is the sense of community it fosters. The castle in Scotland was home to a small community of families, all living within its walls. We shared a bond that was unlike any other, brought together by our shared experience of living in a castle.

In France, the castle was open to the public for tours, and I had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world who were fascinated by its history and architecture. It was a humbling experience to be a part of something that captured the imagination of so many.

Living in a castle also taught me valuable lessons about history, culture, and the importance of preserving our heritage. I was able to immerse myself in the rich history of these magnificent structures and gain a deeper understanding of the world around me.

But perhaps the most significant impact that living in two castles had on me was the sense of wonder and appreciation it instilled in me. Every day, I was surrounded by beauty and history, and it never failed to amaze me. It taught me to never take anything for granted and to always find joy in the little things.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have lived in two castles in my life. It has been a truly unique and unforgettable experience that has shaped me into the person I am today. And while it may not be a standard occurrence, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
