Certificate Issuance Ceremony for the Cleared Land Along the 400 KV Power Line Between Huambo and Lubango

On June 7, 2024, a ceremony took place in the province of Huíla, specifically in Lubango, to present the certificate for the de-mined area along the 400 KV electricity transmission line connecting Huambo and Lubango.

This important event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, the Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants, and Veterans of the Homeland, João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade, as well as the Secretary of State for Energy, Arlindo Carlos, the Vice-Governors of Huíla and Huambo, the representative from the African Development Bank for Angola and São Tomé, various officials from both ministries, and invited guests.

Following the certificate presentation, Minister João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade conveyed his appreciation to the Ministry of Energy and Water for their commitment, which made this occasion possible. He also discussed the overall importance of the event.

In response, Minister João Baptista Borges thanked Minister João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade for his dedication, which contributed to the ceremony’s success. He underscored the vital role of de-mining in advancing the project.

He further stated that the primary goal is to enhance energy capacity to satisfy the region’s needs. He praised the de-mining efforts for their significance to the energy sector and their essential contribution to the successful implementation of various electrification projects throughout the country.

João Baptista Borges added that this initiative, linking Huambo and Lubango, will create job opportunities for many young people, a point he regards as very important.

A symbolic act of delivering a vehicle to the de-mining team on-site was also carried out.

It is worth noting that the construction of the 400 kV electricity transmission line from Huambo to Lubango will be organized into two sections, covering a total distance of 343 km.
