‘So proud:’ Paul Juda’s former coaches thrilled by gymnast’s medal win

Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Facility Celebrates Hometown Hero Paul Juda’s Olympic Success

After a stunning performance in the men’s gymnastics team final at the Tokyo Olympics, Paul Juda, a suburban gymnastics star from Buffalo Grove, has captured the hearts of the nation and brought glory to his hometown. On Monday night, coaches, family, and friends gathered at the very facility where Juda’s remarkable journey began, to celebrate his well-deserved success.

Ever since he was a little boy, coaches at the Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Facility knew that Juda had something special. “I remember exactly, like six years old,” said coach Yevhen Vovkiv. “He’s very powerful…” Despite his young age, Juda’s coaches saw his potential and nurtured his talent with years of hard work and dedication.

Juda, a Deerfield native, has been training at the Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Facility for most of his life, under the guidance of coaches who have watched him grow and flourish as a gymnast. They couldn’t be prouder of their student’s achievements and were thrilled to witness his outstanding performance at the Olympics.

“He had it in his mind, since he was a little kid, he was going to be the best,” said coach Michael Califf, reflecting on Juda’s determination and drive. His coaches have seen firsthand how he has worked tirelessly to reach the pinnacle of success in the world of gymnastics.

Juda’s unexpected and impressive performance at the Olympics has exceeded everyone’s expectations and has earned him a greater role within his team. But it’s not just his skills that have caught the attention of the world. It’s his infectious joy and celebratory reactions after each event, not just for himself but for his teammates as well. His positive attitude and team spirit have been a driving force behind the team’s success.

One of his lifelong friends and teammates, Alan Gerdov, who also attends the University of Michigan, knows that this is just the beginning for Juda. “I think everyone remembers a time when Paul Juda became better at gymnastics than them,” he said. “It was fun to root for him.” Gerdov’s words reflect the admiration and support that Juda has received from his teammates throughout his journey.

Juda and the men’s gymnastics team brought home the bronze medal, showcasing their incredible skills and teamwork. The 23-year-old’s performance was nothing short of remarkable and has left the world in awe of his talent and determination.

“Not only does he have that generational talent, he also wants it more than everybody else,” said Gerdov. “It’s not an accident that he got here. He works really hard, is also very talented, and his genetics help. He wouldn’t have had it if he didn’t work as hard as he did.” Juda’s success is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.

Coach Califf summed it up perfectly when he said, “So proud of him, he’s my favorite gymnast ever.” His coaches have seen him grow from a young boy with a dream to an Olympic medalist, and they couldn’t be prouder of his achievements.

Juda’s success has not only brought joy to his coaches and teammates but has also inspired the younger generation of gymnasts at the Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Facility. His determination, resilience, and positive attitude serve as a shining example for young athletes to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.

As the nation celebrates Paul Juda’s Olympic success, the Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Facility stands tall as the place where it all began. It’s a reminder of the hard work, dedication, and support that goes into nurturing a young talent, and the pride that comes with seeing them achieve their dreams. We congratulate Paul Juda on his incredible achievement and wish him all the best for his future endeavors.
