The Authority of Aquatic Resources of Panama (ARAP) and Cobre Panama provide support to aquaculturists in the province of Coclé

The Sustainable Agricultural Community Committee of Cascajal, in the district of La Pintada, Coclé, has carried out the first partial harvest of tilapia, with the participation of over 15 families.

This harvest, a result of a collaborative project with the community, the Authority of Aquatic Resources of Panama (ARAP), and the company Cobre Panama, aims to meet both consumption needs and marketing opportunities.

In this first partial harvest, around 300 pounds of tilapia were obtained, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds. This production will not only provide families with a source of quality protein but also an opportunity for economic income.

Furthermore, the families have a grinding machine that allows them to transform the fish into nuggets and hamburgers, creating value-added products.
