The slopes may not be as extensive as some of the larger resorts, but the lack of crowds and the stunning natural surroundings make it a must-visit for any ski enthusiast.
Moving on to the French Alps, Smith suggests exploring the lesser-known ski resort of La Rosière. “La Rosière is often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor, Val d’Isère, but it’s definitely worth a visit,” he says. “The slopes here are fantastic, with a good mix of runs for all levels, and the village itself has a charming, traditional feel to it.” One of the unique features of La Rosière is its location on the French-Italian border, allowing skiers to easily cross over and experience the slopes on both sides.
Last but certainly not least, Smith recommends the stunning ski resort of Jasna, located in the Low Tatras mountains of Slovakia. “Jasna is a hidden gem that is quickly gaining popularity among skiers,” he says. “The slopes here are truly world-class, with over 50 kilometers of runs and breathtaking views.” But what sets Jasna apart from other ski resorts is its après-ski scene. “The nightlife in Jasna is fantastic,” says Smith. “There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, and the atmosphere is lively and welcoming.”
