Governor Mara Lezama was a guest at the XV Congress of the Confederation of Autonomous Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), where Claudia Sheinbaum, National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, was also present.
At the event in Mexico City, the Governor of Quintana Roo reiterated her full support for and collaboration with Claudia Sheinbaum, joining her at the head table alongside other authorities and Morena leader Mario Delgado.
The CATEM congress serves as a space for dialogue with union representatives to improve working conditions for employees, especially those from Quintana Roo.
Founded 15 years ago, the union now boasts about 7 million members across 1,192 worker organizations from various industries.
“Thank you, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, for taking time out of your busy schedule. First, you governed my home, which I proudly call Tlálpan; then you led this city where we are today, and soon, you will see the results. A truly outstanding woman, thank you, my dear friend,” said Pedro Haces, union leader.
In response, Sheinbaum officially announced a coalition with the workers’ union.
“Next Monday, we will begin the formal process of my campaign for the Presidency of the Republic, and I invite all of you to join us in this journey. I promise to continue defending workers’ wages and labor rights, because we know that when workers thrive, businesses and Mexico thrive.”
