Tyra Banks Takes the Runway by Storm at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has always been known for its glitz, glamour, and a star-studded lineup of models. But this year, it was the return of one particular model that stole the show and captured everyone’s attention – Tyra Banks.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel and creator of “America’s Next Top Model” made her comeback at the renowned lingerie presentation on October 15th. And she did it in true Tyra fashion, wowing the audience with her signature smize as she closed the show in a stunning black bustier with crystal embellishments, a silver cape, dark leggings, and strappy heels.
For Banks, this was her first time walking the catwalk since retiring from modeling in 2005. And what a comeback it was. Having been considered one of the original Victoria’s Secret Angels, Banks had graced the runway during its early days in the 90s. In fact, she appeared in nine shows and even had the honor of wearing the iconic Fantasy Bra twice during her eight-year modeling contract with the lingerie brand.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Banks revealed that when she made the decision to retire from modeling, Victoria’s Secret had offered her another contract. However, she turned it down, believing that she needed to be taken seriously for her words and not just her looks. But now, she feels that the world has evolved in a way that allows her to be a businesswoman, a role model, and yes, even a Victoria’s Secret model.
“I think the world has changed to see that, as women, we don’t have to fit into one mold. We can be multifaceted and embrace all parts of ourselves,” Banks shared. “And so I feel very excited and fortunate to come back and celebrate all of myself and not feel like I have to cut off a piece to be taken seriously.”
Banks also acknowledged how the fashion industry has changed and become more inclusive over the years. “I was considered curvier, and I was a Black girl, and I think it’s important to still acknowledge that at that time. And today, what is even more beautiful is that they’ve burst those doors open,” she said.
She added, “It’s just like this continuation of beauty and diversity, which is really exciting.”
Banks’ return to the Victoria’s Secret runway was a powerful statement – one that showed how far we’ve come in terms of embracing different body types, races, and cultures in the fashion world. And as she confidently strutted down the runway, it was clear that Banks has not missed a beat.
But her impact extends far beyond the catwalk. Banks continues to be an influential figure in the entertainment industry, using her platform to uplift and empower women of all ages and backgrounds. From her talk show, “The Tyra Banks Show,” to her successful ice cream company, and teaching at prestigious institutions like Harvard and Stanford, Banks has proven that she can do it all.
And now, with her return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, she has once again shown that being a role model and a Victoria’s Secret Angel are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they complement each other perfectly.
