Efforts made in collaboration by Claudia Sheinbaum and CATEM to bolster labor rights in Mexico

Claudia Sheinbaum collaborates with CATEM to promote labor rights, highlighting the link between national development and the welfare of workers. In a landmark moment in Mexican labor history, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, National Coordinator for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, announced a strategic alliance with the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) during the organization’s XV Ordinary National Congress in Mexico City (ADN/Staff). The main aim of this partnership is to fortify and extend the rights of Mexican workers, recognizing their well-being as vital for the progress of the country.

Sheinbaum, acknowledging the positive momentum in Mexico, emphasized the importance of advancing and persisting in efforts to enhance labor rights. She stated, “We share a fundamental objective: preventing a return to the past of corruption and privileges and moving forward with the Fourth Transformation of Mexico’s public life.” The establishment of over 10,000 Labor Committees in Defense of the Fourth Transformation within CATEM represents a concrete step toward achieving this goal.

Sheinbaum’s commitment to workers includes protecting their wages and employment benefits, aligning with the vision of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who prioritizes the well-being of the most vulnerable for Mexico’s prosperity.

Pedro Haces Barba, Senator of the Republic and Secretary-General of CATEM, highlighted achievements resulting from collaboration between the government and representatives of the working class, such as the increase in the minimum wage and enhancements in working conditions. He stressed that this progress must continue under the principles of the 4T, with Sheinbaum leading the way.

Ricardo Monreal, senator of the republic, emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the relationship between workers, government, and employers to ensure the expansion of labor rights. He stated, “The alliance with Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum is crucial at this time.”

The congress attracted prominent political and business figures, demonstrating broad support for this initiative.
