Jets GM Reveals Offseason Plans For Key Defender

For the eighth year in a row, the New York Jets finished the season with a losing record.

The team hasn’t made the playoffs since 2010, and while this season was the most promising in franchise history, luck was never on their side.

Now, with Aaron Rodgers back to full strength and most of their roster locked in for the future, GM Joe Douglas needs to make sure to keep the best guys around for the long haul.

That’s why Bryce Huff’s situation has been such a talking point over the past couple of days.

With that in mind, the GM told Jeane Coakley of SNY that the front office has every intention to re-sign him in the offseason:

“He’s a valuable member of this team,” Douglas said. “So, we’re gonna talk to him and his agent. Obviously, we’d love to have Bryce back.”

Douglas talked about how proud he was of Huff and his history of success, praising him for his hard work and how far he’s come since joining the team as an undrafted free agent.

The Jets found and developed him, but he made it loud and clear that he’s not going to give them any sort of discount.

Huff is projected to make roughly over $9 million per year in his next deal.

He’s coming off the best campaign of his career, logging double digits in sacks for the first time since entering the league.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Jets manage to get him paid, as they don’t have that much money available and also have to revamp that offensive line.
