The Philadelphia Eagles were expected to be among the best teams in the NFL this season after just narrowly losing the Super Bowl this past February.
While the Eagles started strong this season, they’ve disappointed lately and all but gave up the NFC East crown after losing four of their past five games.
That reality has former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson a bit worried about his former team with the playoffs approaching.
“I feel like they kind of let me down a little bit,” Jackson said on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” show on Friday. “… I do feel like we took a dip.”

While the Eagles offense has most remained the same, Philadelphia’s defense has declined a bit and just gave up 35 points to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17.
The Eagles lost their top two assistants from this past season in offensive coordinator Shane Steichen – now head coach of the Indianapolis Colts – and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon – now head coach of the Cardinals.
This is still very much a playoff-caliber team, as evidenced by their 11-5 record and seventh-ranked scoring offense; but between a bad defense and inconsistent quarterback play from Jalen Hurts, it’s hard to look at Philadelphia as a legitimate Super Bowl contender anymore.
A lot can change between now and the start of the playoffs, but the Eagles haven’t shown the ability to fix their very obvious flaws over the past month, and that will certainly affect their chances of going back to the Super Bowl.
