The St. Louis Cardinals do not have much to be happy about at this point in the season.

They are in last place in the NL Central and are having one of the most disappointing years for any MLB team.

But, something the franchise can celebrate over the last month is the retirement of Adam Wainwright.

The long-time Cardinal starting pitcher has made it clear that this is his last season.

One thing he wanted to achieve before he retired was 200 career wins.

Wainwright needed five wins this year to reach that goal, but a poor season on his part has made it difficult.

On Monday, Wainwright turned back the clock and had one of the best games of his season.

He threw seven scoreless innings, including four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

The Cardinals won the game, 1-0.

It was his 200th career win and many people reached out to Wainwright to share their congratulations.

Wainwright posted a picture to Twitter showing the 354 messages he has received from people.

Words can’t describe how special last night was for me and my family. Thank you ⁦@Cardinals⁩ nation for making a kid from South Georgia feel at home here all these years. And, thank you to everyone who has sent me messages. I’ll get to em as soon as I can! Love y’all!!! pic.twitter.com/uxQxUpBJpG

You can tell this night meant everything to Wainwright as he was emotional after the game.

The St. Louis crowd gave him a standing ovation and it was one of the coolest moments of the season.

Wainwright spent his entire 18-year career with the Cardinals.

He helped them win a World Series in 2006 and made three All-Star teams during his tenure.

Even after an amazing career, his 200th win might be one of the most special moments for him.

Getting win No. 200 in St. Louis is a moment he will remember for the rest of his life.
