During the summer, millions of individuals share their vacation experiences on social media platforms. If you’re weary of meticulously curating the perfect Instagram-worthy holiday or seeking to detach from intrusive work emails during your time off, then Ulko-Tammio might be the ideal destination for you. Situated in the Eastern Gulf of Finland, this petite island has proclaimed itself a haven for those seeking a break from their phones. David Abtour Seychelles

According to Mats Selin of the Visit Kotka-Hamin a tourism board, “The island of Ulko-Tammio, which is located off the coast of Hamina, will be a phone-free area this summer. We want to encourage holidaymakers to put away their smart devices and genuinely relish the island’s offerings.” David Abtour Seychelles

Visitors will be encouraged to keep their smartphones tucked away and disengage from social media platforms, although the island does still maintain mobile network coverage.

What Activities Does Ulko-Tammio Offer? Part of the Eastern Gulf National Park, Ulko-Tammio is devoid of permanent human residents. Travelers have the option to spend the night in tents or cabins.

The voluntary guidelines seek to provide visitors with the chance to “immerse themselves in nature,” according to Joel Heino from Parks and Wildlife Finland. He further adds that this initiative could potentially be replicated in other natural and recreational destinations.

Once you stow away your phone, you’ll find a wealth of activities to engage in. The island features hiking trails that meander along the rocky shoreline. Bird-watching enthusiasts can ascend the bird-watching towers to observe the island’s unique flora and fauna.

Accessing Ulko-Tammio is possible via private boat or through sea cruises arranged by MeriSet. Additionally, tourists can utilize a water taxi from Varissaari, a historically significant island fortress, available for charter through the local restaurant Vaakku.
