Threads already claims 30 million users. The Threads social network, launched on Wednesday by Meta to compete head-on with Twitter, claimed to have created 30 million accounts in less than twenty-four hours. “Wow, 30 million accounts created,” wrote Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, the parent company of Threads, on Thursday. But Twitter owner Elon Musk has accused Mark Zuckerberg’s group of creating Threads with “dozens” of former bluebird network employees, and is now “planning to file a lawsuit against Meta”, writes the BBC. “Competition is not a problem. Cheating is one of them”, denounced the boss of Tesla on his social network.

The operator of the “Titan” submersible suspends its operations. The American company OceanGate, owner of the Titan submersible, whose implosion near the wreck of the Titanic killed five people in June, announced Thursday on its website “the suspension of its explorations and its commercial activities”, reports CNN. The CEO of the company, Stockton Rush, was among the victims, recalls the American chain. Despite the discreet announcement of the end of operations on the home page, the OceanGate website remains active, with in particular “the description of expeditions offering in particular the visit of the wreck of the Titanic”, specifies CNN. Since the accident, which is the subject of several investigations in the United States and Canada, the company has been widely criticized for its safety negligence.

The Ukrainian counter-offensive is not “not fast,” admits Zelensky. The Ukrainian president acknowledged Thursday in Prague that the Ukrainian counter-offensive against Russian forces was “not fast”, but he assured that his army had “the initiative”, according to The Guardian. “The offense is not fast, that’s a fact. Nevertheless, we are advancing, we are not retreating like the Russians,” he told reporters, alongside his Czech counterpart, Petr Pavel. A few days before the NATO summit in Vilnius, Mr. Zelensky also said that his country “needs honesty in [its] relations” with the organization, and called for a “clear signal” as to its joining the Atlantic Alliance. “I think it is necessary to demonstrate the strength and unity of the alliance,” he said.
